They look almost identical. They aren't. Here's what to look for so you never inject the wrong thing.
The label colour
Insulin pens (in India) are colour-coded by type — Lantus is purple, NovoMix is blue-and-yellow, NovoRapid is orange. Wegovy and Ozempic pens have their own distinctive label — Ozempic blue-grey, Wegovy with a clear band on the cap. Read every label before injecting.
Dose dial vs single-dose
Insulin pens have a dial — you choose how many units to inject. Most GLP-1 pens (Ozempic, Wegovy) are single-dose with a fixed weekly amount. There's no dial to set. If your pen has a dial that goes from 0 to 80, you're holding insulin.
Storage rules are the same
Both refrigerated at 2–8°C, both have a room-temperature window after first use. The 28-day post-opening rule applies to both.
