1. Not a substitute for emergency care
ZIVOLABS is a planned-care telemedicine platform. It is not an emergency service. If you are experiencing chest pain, severe breathlessness, signs of a stroke (sudden weakness, slurred speech, drooping face), severe bleeding, seizure, anaphylaxis, suicidal thoughts, or any other emergency:
- Call 112 (India's unified emergency number) or your local ambulance immediately.
- Go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
- Do not wait for a telemedicine consultation.
2. Information is general, care is individual
Articles, guides, and educational content on the Platform are for general information. They are not a substitute for advice from a doctor who knows your specific medical history. Always rely on your treating doctor's instructions over anything you read in a general article.
3. GLP-1 therapy is a prescription medicine
- GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide, and similar) are prescription medicines. They are not appropriate for everyone.
- They are not approved for cosmetic weight loss in healthy-weight individuals. They are approved for type 2 diabetes and for chronic weight management in people with obesity, or with overweight and at least one weight-related comorbidity.
- Your doctor will assess whether GLP-1 therapy is right for you based on your medical history, contraindications, and current medications.
- The doctor may decline to prescribe. The doctor's clinical judgment is final.
4. Known side effects
The most common side effects of GLP-1 medications include nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, fatigue, and injection-site reactions. Less common but more serious side effects include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney problems, vision changes, and allergic reactions. Stop the medication and seek urgent medical care if you experience:
- Severe, persistent abdominal pain (especially radiating to the back);
- Signs of an allergic reaction — rash, swelling of face or throat, difficulty breathing;
- Sudden vision changes;
- Signs of low blood sugar if you are also on insulin or sulfonylureas.
5. Lifestyle, not just medication
GLP-1 therapy works best alongside dietary changes, physical activity, and adequate sleep. The medication is one part of a holistic plan, not a substitute for the rest.
6. Results vary
Individual outcomes — how much weight you lose, how quickly, how well you tolerate the medication — vary considerably. Testimonials and average outcomes shared in our marketing material do not guarantee your result.
7. Doctor and pharmacy are independent
Doctors and pharmacies on the Platform are independent professionals and businesses, licensed and regulated separately. They are responsible for the clinical and dispensing decisions they make. ZIVOLABS provides the technology that connects you to them.
8. Pregnancy & breastfeeding
GLP-1 medications are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, tell your doctor immediately so they can stop the prescription and discuss alternatives.
9. Reporting adverse events
If you experience an unexpected reaction, please:
- Tell your treating doctor at your next consult or via the in-app messaging;
- Email safety@zivolabs.org with the details;
- You may also report directly to the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) at ipc.gov.in.
