Rare but real. Most patients feel better with weight loss; a minority experience low mood. Watch for it.
Why mood matters
Some early observational data suggested GLP-1 might affect mood beyond what weight loss alone explains. Larger studies haven't confirmed a clear signal, but caution is appropriate.
Who we screen carefully
Patients with a history of depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, or eating disorders. We continue treatment for most — sometimes with a mental-health referral as parallel support.
What to do
If you notice a sustained drop in mood, energy, or motivation that lasts more than 2 weeks, tell us. A pause or molecule switch is often the right call.
What weight loss does for mood
Most patients report improved confidence, social engagement, and energy as weight falls. Don't assume worsening mood is the medication — but don't dismiss it either.
