Indian hospitality is built around food. Saying 'one more roti, please' is its own challenge.
The cultural reality
Refusing food can feel like refusing affection. Family meals, weddings, business dinners — eating less is socially loaded.
Scripts that work
'I'm full, but it was delicious — can you save me some for later?' 'I'm watching my health right now — but please, you eat that for me.' Keep it light, repeat as needed.
Don't explain the medication
Unless you want to. You don't owe anyone the details. 'My doctor has me on a plan' is a complete sentence.
