Pharmacists are gatekeepers, not vending machines. There's a legal reason behind the friction.
Schedule H rules
GLP-1 medications are Schedule H — Rx-only, with the pharmacist obligated to verify the prescription and refuse if it looks invalid, old, or non-specific.
Common rejection triggers
Prescription older than 6 months, no doctor signature, missing dosage instructions, no doctor registration number, photocopy without doctor stamp.
How telemedicine prescriptions are handled
A valid telemedicine prescription (with NMC number + e-signature + timestamp) is legally equivalent to an in-person Rx under the 2020 Guidelines. Most pharmacies accept it; some smaller chemists still insist on physical. ZIVOLABS uses partner pharmacies that have been trained to recognise compliant teleconsult Rx.
What you can do
Always carry / save a PDF of your prescription. If a pharmacist refuses a legitimate Rx, escalate to the pharmacy owner or go to one of our verified partners.
