Should you be on it while breastfeeding? Almost always no.
What the data show
Limited human data; the medication is likely transferred into breast milk in small amounts. Effects on the infant are not well characterised.
The recommendation
Avoid GLP-1 during breastfeeding. If you need it postpartum for diabetes management, discuss alternatives or weaning timing with your doctor.
After weaning
Once breastfeeding ends, GLP-1 can resume. Many postpartum patients restart 6–12 months after delivery.
