Injection technique: step by step

The first injection is intimidating. The second is routine. Here's exactly how.

Prep

Wash hands. Remove pen from fridge 15 min before use (cold = stings more). Inspect the solution — clear, no particles.

Site

Pick from abdomen (2 cm from belly button), upper thigh (mid-front), or upper arm (back). Wipe with alcohol swab, let dry.

Inject

Pinch the skin lightly. Press the pen straight in (90°). Press the button. Hold for 6–10 seconds (count slowly). Pull out straight.

After

Don't rub. Small bruise or pink mark is normal. Dispose of needle in a sharps container — never loose in trash.
