Slowed gastric emptying can worsen acidity. Here's the simple set of changes that fixes it for most patients.

Why it happens

Food sitting longer in the stomach increases acid contact with the lower oesophagus. Add a horizontal position after dinner and reflux is predictable.

Behavioural fixes

Last meal 3 hours before bed. Sleep with the head of the bed elevated 6 inches. Avoid alcohol, very spicy food, raw onion, citrus, mint chai (relaxes the lower oesophageal sphincter).

Medication that's safe to combine

Antacids (Gelusil, Digene) for occasional relief. Pantoprazole or omeprazole (PPI) if persistent — they're compatible with GLP-1 and very effective. Ask your doctor before starting daily.
