If you're feeling queasy in your first week of GLP-1, you're in the majority. The practical playbook.

Why it happens

Gastric emptying slows the moment the medication binds. Food sits longer; your body interprets that as fullness, sometimes as nausea.

Tonight's adjustments

Small portions, no oily food, no heavy spices, no alcohol. Ginger water before meals. Stay upright for 30 minutes after eating. Hydrate between meals, not during.

If it's severe

Vomiting more than once in 24 hours, can't keep water down, light-headed when standing — message your doctor through the app. They can prescribe an anti-emetic (often ondansetron) for 3–5 days while you adapt.

Expected timeline

Most nausea resolves by day 7–10 of the starting dose. It usually flares briefly with each dose increase, then settles within a week.
