Pregnancy + GLP-1 don't mix. Here's the safe wash-out and timing protocol.
Stop before trying
Most clinicians recommend stopping GLP-1 at least 2 months before active conception attempts. The medication takes about a month to clear; the additional buffer adds margin.
If you become pregnant
Stop immediately, tell your doctor. Existing pregnancy on GLP-1 needs obstetric review but is not automatically high-risk.
After delivery
Restart after breastfeeding ends. The medication likely passes into breast milk — better not to use during lactation.
PCOS context
Many women whose PCOS prevented conception find fertility returns on GLP-1 — sometimes faster than expected. Reliable contraception during treatment is essential if you're not planning.
